Portillo’s Classical Beef Bowl Ingredients
For the Italian Beef:
- 2.5 to 3 lbs chuck roast or sirloin tip roast
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 packet Italian dressing seasoning mix
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp crushed red pepper (optional for heat)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 jar (16 oz) mild or hot giardiniera (drained)
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small yellow onion, sliced
For the Bowl Base:
- Steamed white rice or buttery mashed potatoes
- Optional: sautéed spinach or steamed broccoli for a veggie base

- Sear the Beef (Optional but Recommended)
In a large pot or Dutch oven, sear the beef on all sides in a little oil until browned. This adds deep flavor. - Slow Cook the Beef
